It's sort of shocking to think this short film was made in 1943. The structure of the editing, the soundtrack, the imagery, the mood it all evokes is eerily haunting and. You can see why filmmakers like David Lynch, Orson Welles, Ingmar Bergman and even Stanley Kubrick appreciated her genius.
